How to move from iCloud Photos to Terebyte
Updated October 9, 2026
To move iCloud Photos to Terebyte, export the original photos and videos from the Photos app on a Mac (or get a copy from Apple), then upload the folder with Upload → Upload folder. Terebyte encrypts every photo on your computer before it’s uploaded.
On Mac
Step 1
Download your originals
In Photos, choose Photos → Settings → iCloud and select Download Originals to this Mac. A big library can take hours; wait until it’s finished.
Step 2
Select everything
In Library, press Command-A to select all your photos and videos.
Step 3
Export the unmodified originals
Choose File → Export → Export Unmodified Original. For Subfolder Format choose Moment Name to keep them in folders by date, then click Export and pick a new folder.
Step 4
Upload the folder to Terebyte
In Terebyte, open My files, choose Upload → Upload folder and pick the folder, or drag it onto the page. Everything inside, subfolders included, is encrypted on your computer before it’s uploaded. Keep the tab open until it’s done; you can pause and carry on later.
On Windows
Step 1
Ask Apple for a copy of your photos
On privacy.apple.com, sign in, choose Request a copy of your data, tick iCloud Photos and send the request. Apple emails you when it’s ready, usually within a few days.
Step 2
Download and unzip it
Download the files from Apple’s email, then right-click each .zip and choose Extract All.
Step 3
Upload the folder to Terebyte
In Terebyte, open My files, choose Upload → Upload folder and pick the folder, or drag it onto the page. Everything inside, subfolders included, is encrypted on your computer before it’s uploaded. Keep the tab open until it’s done; you can pause and carry on later.
On iPhone
Step 1
Get a copy from Apple (best for big libraries)
On privacy.apple.com, choose Request a copy of your data, tick iCloud Photos and send the request. Apple emails you when it’s ready, usually within a few days; download the files on a computer, unzip them, and upload the folder.
Step 2
Or upload some photos straight from your iPhone
Open terebyte.com in Safari, go to My files, choose Upload → Upload files → Photo Library and select the photos.
On Android
Step 1
Get a copy from Apple
On privacy.apple.com, choose Request a copy of your data, tick iCloud Photos and send the request. Apple emails you when it’s ready. Downloading and unzipping is easiest on a computer; then upload the folder.
Step 2
Upload them to Terebyte
Open terebyte.com in your browser, go to My files and choose Upload → Upload files, then pick the files. Phones can’t choose a whole folder, so folders aren’t kept: for a whole library, a computer is much easier.
Questions
- Are edits and albums kept?
- Unmodified originals are the photos and videos exactly as taken, without later edits. Albums aren’t files, so they don’t come along; folders by date (Moment Name) keep things tidy.
- Can Terebyte see my files while they move?
- No. Each file is encrypted on your own device before it’s uploaded, with a key only you hold. Terebyte stores ciphertext it can’t read, and that includes the file and folder names.
- What if the upload stops halfway?
- Nothing is lost. Pause and resume whenever you like. If the tab closes, choose the same folder again: Terebyte carries on where it stopped and skips everything already uploaded.
- Will I get duplicates if I upload the same folder twice?
- No. Files already there with the same name and size are skipped. A different file with the same name is kept alongside, as “name (2)”.
