Connect Terebyte to Claude

Three steps, about two minutes. Claude gets a door to one room you choose, can do there only what you allow, and for as long as you say. You need a Terebyte account, a paid Claude plan, and a Mac, Windows or Linux computer.

Claude

  1. 1

Start your connector. Open Terminal and paste this. It makes a connector address of your own and copies it. If the computer doesn’t have Node.js, get it from nodejs.org first (one installer).

    npx terebyte connect claude

The first time, it asks what to call this computer (you’ll see that name in Terebyte).

  2. 2

Add it in Claude. The command opens Claude’s connectors page. Choose Add custom connector, name it Terebyte, paste the address, then Add and Connect.

  3. 3

Approve in Terebyte. A page opens with an Approve in Terebyte button. Press it, choose the room, what Claude may do and for how long, then Approve. You’re back in Claude. Ask: “List my Terebyte rooms.”

Keep the command running: Claude reaches your room only while that computer is on and awake. When it isn’t, Claude shows its own connection error. Run the command again any time; once you’re set up it just says “Awake”.

ChatGPT

Run npx terebyte connect chatgpt. In ChatGPT’s settings, turn on Developer mode (on its paid plans) and create a connector with your address, signed in by OAuth; then approve in Terebyte as above. It’s a custom connector with your own address because ChatGPT’s directory lists one address for every user, and with one address something of ours would have to open each connection to know whose it is. With yours, nothing of ours does. ChatGPT marks custom connectors as unverified and asks you to confirm their actions in the chat.

Cursor and Claude Code

The same command adds Terebyte to them, then the same Approve in Terebyte.

Privacy

Your assistant connects to a computer of yours. Terebyte’s relay passes sealed envelopes and can’t open them. We keep no record of who connected.

Each assistant gets its own door. Pause it, close it, or undo what it did on the Rooms page. Files it reads are processed by that assistant’s company under its own rules.
